Django Reinhardt reste sans doute l’un des jazzmen français qui ont fait l’objet de nombreuses publications françaises ou étrangères. Le néologisme « djangologie » que l’on attribue ici et là au corpus d’œuvres et d’études du guitariste témoigne de l’existence, sinon du souhait, d’étudier les particularités du jazz manouche. L’ouvrage de Gérard Regnier a donc pour ambition de venir compléter l’histoire du guitariste dans une thématique qui lui est familière, l’Occupation.
